Cellulose Insulation - Going Green with Cellulose

Cellulose isn't that some you get on your legs after you get old. I hope you know I am just kidding but we have to keep some of this stuff light, don't we.

This type of going green for life insulation is made from plant fiber and has the ability to insult a building thermally and acoustically. This unique fiber has been around for years but with the advent of the industrial revolution man decided to produce synthetic fibers, deadly fibers to protect their homes and building from the climate.

According to reports, "Currently cellulose insulation has increased again in use in the United States. Part of the reason for this growth are studies that have shown results that suggest that cellulose may actually protect a building from damage in a fire better than fiberglass because cellulose is denser than fiberglass and doesn't allow the oxygen necessary to burn structural members. Several National Research Council Canada studies [2] have backed these claims. Another major reason for the comeback of cellulose might be because of the increased interest in green building. Cellulose has the highest recycled content of any insulation material and also has less embodied energy than fiberglass and other furnace produced mineral insulations." Cellulose Insulation

At one point in time fiberglass manufactures lobby the feds to pass strict codes on plant based insultation because of fire harzards. Today, this old but new approach is coming back with the advent of the going green movement.

It is important to realize anything we place in our homes, on our homes or in the walls of our home will eventually seep into our bodies. I think I would rather have tree fibers inside of me rather than fiberglass. Have you ever had fiberglass on your skin? This fiber will cause you itch for days and only God knows whatelse it does. Hey let's go green for life and try a little plant fiber in your walls.
