Clean Up Oil Spill - Attempts Failed

Clean up oil spill - BP's attempt to place a plug over the massive oil monster at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico failed. 200,000 gallons of oil still gush into the Gulf of Mexico. New attempts to begin soon. Oil reaches shore and the deadly drama continues.

News from the Gulf of Mexico is still depressing. BP's and other agencies are doing their best to stop the flow but so far all attempts have failed. In the mean time Louisiana attempts to stop the progression of oil on to the shores, wetlands, and coastal areas.
It is sad to say the drama is still on going with no end in sight. What is going to happen to the Gulf states is anyone's guess.

Alabama, Mississippi and Florida still anxiously wait to find out where the oil will, and it will, arrive on their shores.

According to this report by Fox News, "It had taken about two weeks to build the box and three days to cart the containment box 50 miles (80 kilometers) out and slowly lower it to the well a mile (1.6 kilometers) below the surface, but the frozen depths were just too much. BP officials were not giving up hopes that a containment box -- either the one brought there or another one being built -- could cover the well. But they said it could be Monday or later before they decide whether to make another attempt to capture the oil and funnel it to a tanker at the surface." To read the full report Click Here

Fox also reports, "Louisiana officials plan to ask BP to pay to dredge up miles of new barrier islands as a defense against the oil slick headed to the state's coastline, Gov. Bobby Jindal said Saturday.

The project would cost $200 million and take four to six months to complete its first phase, adding 43 miles to extend the Chandeleur island chain off the state's eastern coastline in both directions, said Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, speaking at a press conference with Jindal. However, even a few days of dredging would improve coastal protections, he added.

BP will be asked to fund the project, Jindal said.

"It would be so much easier to clean oil off this (dredged) sand than to deal with in our marshes," Jindal said" To read the full report Click Here

I am certain everyone is doing all they can to stop this disaster but much of the damage is irreversible. Yet, let's clean up oil, OK! Clean Up Oil
