Electric Cars - Reality or Dream
Electric cars will cut down on global pollution and reduce a carbon footprint but will the consumer surrender the desire for appearance, speed and style to the electric automobile. The real question is will Americans and other extravagant countries actually buy the car. It is fact electric automobiles work and are an excellent method of transportation.
In the USA we are seeing a change on the highway but only a small change. However, it looks like the appearance of the electric powered car is improving and sales are up and the prices are coming down.
In order for electricity to be a viable options for consumers the car companies will have to produce a stylish product at a great price. If car companies do not produce a great looking car offered at affordable prices individuals will opt for appearance and price over environmental concerns. The average American is still in the process of learning to go green and many are not willing to sacrifice identity and status.
The Toyota Prius is leading the way in Hybrid cars and the market is expanding. It is reported that more than one million were sold in 2008. The stats speak for themselves, the consumer is beginning to realize the importance of alternative fuels.
