The Farmers Market is one way to find fresh fruit and vegetables. However, just because you find veggies at an out door market does not mean they are fresh. You have to question the seller.
Why Locally Grown? The world is starting to return to the fundamentals of buying local food. Locally grown food is more nutritional, fresher and taste like real food. When you buy an apple from a local farmer you remember what an apple taste like. Tomatoes have that strong taste you long for. I venture to say that many people across the USA and world have never taste a homegrown tomato. Ain't nothing like a homegrown tomatoes.
When you buy from local farmers, you support the local economy. In addition to supporting the local economy, you will find a healthier life style
Health experts say that we need at least five serving of fresh vegetable and fruit per day. If you are like me, it is hard to do but I press myself to eat healthy. If I am going to eat that, much fruit and veggies I want to eat fresh food.
When you go to a local market, you need to question the farmers. Not everyone at a local market is growing his or her own food. I have meet some that buy from wholesalers, take it to the farmers market, and pretend they grew it fresh.
Look for organic farmers with the certification to prove it is actually organic.
Finally, the local markets are a great place to socialize. I find many of the same people each week at the market. Our market has a fair type atmosphere and I love to go.
