Filtered Water Bottle - Do They Work?

Honestly I do not see how a filtered water bottle could work effectively but it is better than bottled water and safer than ordinary tap water. I am going to leave this subject in the hands of a Paul Van Rode. He seems to know a lot more about this subject than I do.

In the case of those who walk or bicycle in metro areas, it is important to carry water with them so that they can stay hydrated and avoid cramps or other issues that can develop from becoming dehydrated. Depending on the weather and the distance traveled, there's a constant possibility that the water from home won't be a large enough quantity to maintain sufficient hydration. In cases such as this, it might be necessary to get supplemental water from a tap water faucet or a public water fountain. You'll be able to filter out additives or contaminants with a filtered bottle, making your water intake safer.

The simple fact is that most municipal water systems contain certain impurities that can affect the taste of the water and/or pose health risks to those who consume the water. The extent to which the water is impure differs substantially from house to house and location to location within the district assigned to that water utility.

By using a filtered bottle, you can neutralize any impurities that are contained before you drink it, and the hydration you get from a park drinking fountain or from a store can taste just as good and be just as healthy as the water you originally put in the bottle at home. It will also taste exactly the same.

A filtered bottle is a staple supply among people who like being out in nature. This is particularly true if not enough water is brought from home on the excursion to keep everyone on the outing hydrated for the entire trip. This is because most sources of water in the wilderness can contain a wide range of bacteria and other contaminants that make it taste bad and/or be a threat to personal health.

The ability to filter out these pollutants and microorganisms right as it goes into the bottle, rendering it clean and safe, makes a filtered water bottle indispensable. And in many cases, the taste of the water is improved quite noticeably.
