Green jobs! Obama promises to spend $150 billion over 10 years to create 5 million new green-collar jobs. Academics have released many studies trumpeting the potential for green positions - one report by the RAND Corporation and University of Tennessee found that if 25% of all American energy were produced from renewable sources by 2025, we would generate at least 5 million new green jobs.

I hope you realize the President is not Superman, Jesus or Spider-man. He is human and he is doing the best job he is allowed to do. You may or may not have voted for the man but it doesn't matter now. He is the President of the United States of America and deserves the respect of all people. The Bible tells us to honor those in authority. Let me encourage everyone to stand behind him and pray for him and if you don't like him vote against him in the next election.

Many people across this great land are looking for work. I know what it is like to not have a job or lose a job. I lost my job after Katrina hit the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. It was hard to start over in a new state but I did it. I did what was necessary to make a dollar. I went from counselor to a mobile detailer. I do cars for a living. In addition, you know I am thankful to have work. God has blessed my business beyond my understanding and let me tell you this; I will never apologize for my belief in God. If you don't believe in God, that is your business. Without God's help, I would have never made it through the crisis. OK, enough preaching and one day I will tell you about the book I published called, "I Will Not Be Defeated Anymore."

What is a Green Job?

What is a green job or a green collar job? Can you picture the farmer in Nebraska being asking if he knows about green collar jobs? The farmer scratches his head and answers, "Well… ain't green collar like farming or something?"

Truthfully, I had not heard the word green collar until recently. What happened to blue collar? Things are really changing fast.

I am going to attempt to define the new terms and provide information on how to find a green employment.

This field is relatively new and sense President Obama's election many new terms need explaining. I don't have all the answers but my research on the subject is fresh.

Calgreen Products click here Do you know how to define a green collar job? If not you had better learn because our government is supposedly spending billions to create millions of green collar jobs. Gosh, I wonder how the government gets all this money. Printing presses dummy. If you own the press, you can print as much money as you like. No, seriously, I think the green jobs market is good but I would rather keep the government out of private business. However, I guess in this day and time keeping the government out of people's business is impossible.

New Terms for a New Age

No doubt we are in a new age; a computer age with new terms.

Don't you think it is strange that we have to define a new section of the work place? I wonder if this new section is really an old section with a new label.

A couple of good definition come from WikiPedia and the Ellabakercenter.org

A green-collar worker is a worker who is employed in the environmental sectors of the economy. Environmental green-collar workers (or green jobs ...en.wikipedia.org Green Jobs Defined A paid position providing environmentally-friendly products or services; term suggests high standards regarding fair wages, equal opportunity and ...www.ellabakercenter.org Ella Baker Center GreenCollarblog post this definition of a green jobs.

"In the "Finding Green Jobs" series, "green jobs" will be defined as full-time, part-time, or internship opportunities that provide a social or environmental benefit. These jobs can be in the public, private, or non-profit sector and include jobs in areas such as energy efficiency, green building, natural resource management, recycling, and renewable energy. This definition also reflects a broad view of sustainability and includes areas such as fair trade and corporate social responsibility." Green Jobs Blog This one excellent site for anyone looking for a job in the green sector. I highly recommend clicking on this link. Tons of information about obtaining green employment.

What happened to all the jobs?

Raquel Pinderhughes wrote,

"Over the next decade, the potential for green collar jobs, which I define as blue-collar work force opportunities created by firms and organizations whose mission is to improve environmental quality, could be very large. This is because, despite what is happening at the federal level, many San Francisco Bay Area cities, and the state of California, are proposing and passing policies and programs designed to improve environmental quality." Raquel Pinderhughes She said it correctly, blue collar turning green. What happened to the jobs? Gee, it doesn't take a genius to answer the question.

"In the press and in the minds of many Americans, much of the weakness in the labor market is blamed on foreign competition. As the quotation above indicates, there is uneasiness that manufacturing and service sector jobs have been, or will be, moved abroad. Partly because of technological change and partly because of trade agreements,so the argument goes, US workers now have to compete against a huge low-wage globallabor pool and the sustained weakness in employment since 2000 is a sign that this is undermining the great US job machine." Martin Neil Baily and Robert Lawerence Neil Baily, Robert Lawerence

At this point, it seems as if we just have to roll with the flow. The real question is where does the man or woman who has to feed his family, cloth the kids and pay for the mortgage find a job. If there are green jobs, how do I find one? Thank God, I am not young. Never thought I would say that but I am grateful my kids are grown and my life in the work world… well it isn't over but it has changed. I know longer have to compete for the jobs or worry about were I am going to find a job.
