Job Skills - Practice Job Hunting - GGFL Staff Writer 8/01/2010
Looking for a job?
You have sent out a million and one half resumes and nothing seems to be happening.
Maybe you have been on a few interviews and never received that phone call saying you have the job.
What is wrong?
It is important to know what you are doing wrong in the process of looking for a new job. However, the most important question to answer is what do you need to change.
What can you do differently?
Practicing your job hunting skills is extremely important.
If you have mailed out a million resumes and have not received a single interview;
you need to take a good look at your resume and practice new methods of selling yourself through your resume.
You might need to change your outline, format or wording on your resume. Try this site for some suggestions and tips on resumes. Resumetemplates.org
Maybe you have been on a few interviews and still no job offers. The interview process is where you win or lose the job.
If you made it to the interview now is the time to really show your stuff.
Do you know how to present yourself in an interview? If not, now is the time to practice. Have someone help you with this step.
Practice in front of the mirror.
Practice with anyone who will take the time to listen and give you honest feedback.
Take a look at your clothes. What are you wearing to an interview?
If you do not fit the exceptions of the person doing the hiring find out what you need to change.
One important factor to consider, in this job market, is do you need to change your selected field of work.
If you are in the banking business and can't find a job in the industry maybe it is time to look else where.
Don't be afraid to make the change. Times are changing and you need to change with them if you are not getting the job.
Don't give up on your search. If you will logically take a good look at what you are doing wrong, make the corrections and practice those corrections, a job will come along.
