Ocean Water - The Acid Sponge!

Ocean Water - The Acid Sponge! In a brief report on KSBY, a local TV station they mentioned the following, "A new report says the world's oceans are acting like a giant sponge for the main gas that causes global warming.
It says that is hurting the world's marine life because as the oceans take in carbon emissions, they become more acidic.
A scientist with the Plymouth Marine Lab says the oceans have already taken up 25 percent of the carbon dioxide since the industrial revolution, making them 30 percent more acidic.
He expects the acidity to increase 120 percent if action is not taken and says the polar regions will be affected first, and the hardest." KSBY REPORT
I live close to the great Pacific Ocean and I love the sea. Please stop the pollution of our oceans. I know the sea waters are polluted because I have seen it first hand. I have seen tar on the beaches in Cambria, CA. I have seen polluted sea water in the Gulf of Mexico. This is not a media game it is real. So, let's stop the pollution.
A look at human CO2 emissions -vs- ocean absorption22 05 2009
Steve Fitzpatrick writes in with a short essay:

Ocean Water - On May 11 you reposted a blog from Dr. Roy Spencer, where he suggests that much of the increase in atmospheric CO2 could be due to warming of the oceans, and where he presents a few graphs that he claims are consistent with ocean surface temperature change contributing more than 80% of the measure increase in CO2 since 1958.
Dr. Spencer’s suggestion is contradicted by many published studies of absorption of CO2 by the ocean, with some studies dating from the early 1960’s, long before “global warming” was a political issue. In this post I offer a simple model that shows why net absorption of CO2 by the ocean is most likely the main ocean effect.More Information Ocean Water Going Green for Life has been built with SBI tools.
