Water Conservation is Necessary!

Water Conservation is a must!

The Shortage is Real!

Less than 3% of the world water is fresh water and much of that is inaccessible.

At lest 36 states expect a severe water shortage by the year 2013.

What if you woke up in the morning and went to the kitchen faucet to fill up your coffee pot and there was no water?

You go check the main line every thing is on, still no water. You call the water department and you get a recorded message. The message is as follows, "Due to water shortages all water will be turned off indefinitely. We are sorry for the problem but the city does not have any water left in its reservoir."

Far fetched, but the truth is water is in short supply and unless we decide to pay attention to the water shortage... the water flow could stop.

In Cambria, California, were we live, water really is in short supply. Water is more expensive than our electric and gas bills combined.

We take extra measures to in area of water conservation. We turn off the water when we brush our teeth. We have small tanks on our toilets. We only take a shower once a week. Kidding, we take showers daily but not long showers. We only wash clothes when we have an extra large load.

We do all sorts of things in order to save money on our water bill. If we go over our allotted amount of water each month the town charges a surcharge. In our little coastal town we feel the crunch when it comes to water.

The greatest environmental crisis facing the world is the water shortage. Depletion and contamination of our fresh water supply holds the greatest immediate danger to our planet.

What are you going to do about the problem?

This is real. Please don't under-estimate the seriousness of this problem.

Water Conservation: Are you Serious?

Water Conservation: Are you serious?

Maybe you have not experienced any water shortage were you live. Hang on, more than likely it is coming.

I have mentioned on the other pages I lived in Mississippi. The average rainfall in south Mississippi is enormous. With rain falling from the sky like basketballs you would never give water conservation a thought. However, in some cities in Mississippi water is being rationed.

In addition, most of our fresh water is laden with toxic chemicals. This subject will be address later, right now the subject is about the shortage of fresh, drinking water in the USA.

We are not talking about Africa; this crisis is in the USA as well as Africa and the rest of the world.

"There is simply no way to overstate the fresh water crisis on the planet today." Maude Barlow and Tony Clarke, Blue Gold: The Fight to Stop the Corporate Theft of the World's Water.

The world is running out of fresh water!

Water Conservation: Why a Shortage?

What are the causes?

According to J.W. Roberts, in a paper presented on March 21, 1956 at the Illinois Section Meeting of the American Water Works Association in Chicago, "The chief reasons for most water shortages can be attributed to greater than anticipated population increases, decreases in well capacity, sediment accumulations in reservoirs, and increased water requirements, both domestic and industrial."

You need to read this article. In 1956 he implied and reported the sun and possible global warming being related to water shortages. JW Roberts

Now it is my turn to mention a few reasons I believe we are experiencing a worldwide crisis.

1. Population explosion.. - More people more demand for fresh water.

2. Irrigated agriculture - More people more food needed, more water needed.

3. Wasting water - Wash your car let the hose run. We don't have an unlimited supply of water.

4. Increased industrial development - more companies more water.

What do you think? Is there a water shortage?

What do you think caused the problem Contact us and tell us your opinion.

Some say the shortage is not the lack of water but the lack of drinkable water. The problem is pollution of our fresh water supply.

We have a great water filtering system in our house. I hope you do! I tested the water coming into the house for chlorine levels. It was higher than a swimming pool. Remember when you were told not to drink the water in the pool. Now, don't drink the water out of your kitchen faucet.

We will offer great filters in our store once we build the store. But for now if you don't have a water filter I suggest you go buy one. It will be worth every dime.

Come on, does it really matter. Polluted or lack of water what is the difference. If you can't drink the water that constitutes a shortage of fresh drinking water.

Water Conservation: The Solution

What is the solution?

There is no quick fix to the water crisis. We can't wiggle our noses and clean up this problem.

Water is rapidly becoming the new oil.

According to an article in Euro News, "Many experts say water has become the new oil and, unless dramatic solutions are found, access to it will become the world's major source of conflict in the future."EuroNews

Ok, what is the solution?

The solution begins with you!

Water conservation is a good place to start.

Begin conservation in your home.

1. Cut off the water when you are not using it.

2. Take shorter showers

3. Smaller tanks on toilets

4. Learn how to wash a car without water or with a small amount.

5. Change the landscape of your yard to a waterless yard.

Truthful, even as I write about solutions I wonder if they will work. Is it to late to make a difference?

How can we help countries like, Africa, Argentina, and Brazil?

The difference and the solution lies in the hearts and minds of those who care. We must do our best to educate the public to the problem. Lobby our legislators to make water conservation a major issue in Washington.

In the future, we will address more solutions but the fact remains it must begin in the home.

You must practice methods of conservation and keep in mind those who don't have fresh water to drink.

Stay tuned for more ways to solve the shortage.

Economic and Environmental Advantages of Water Conservation

Economic and Environmental Advantages of Water Conservation

Valerie Howard

Water conservation is an important concept, but many people may not realize exactly how much of a difference conserving water can actually make. It's easy to picture water as being an endless resource, causing the value of water conservation to seem relatively small... after all, what's the point in conserving water when there's always going to be more? Unfortunately, water is not anywhere near being a limitless resource; without conservation there is a very real threat of water shortages in the areas that need water the most. The environmental impact of water conservation isn't the only thing that should be considered when deciding how important conservation really is, however.

It is generally much easier to see a problem when viewing it from the perspective of how it can affect you instead of how it affects the world, and water conservation can have a major impact on your life without you even realizing it. By conserving water you save money, and not just the few dollars on the water bill each that can be saved by fixing leaky faucets and adjusting the water output of your toilet. The more water that is conserved, the less need there will be for expensive facilities to desalinate or treat water that currently isn't able to be used for human consumption. This can reduce taxes as well as your water bill overall, and by making more water available for irrigation efforts can even reduce the amount that you pay for vegetables and other foods at the store. When adding this to the amount that adds up from the "few dollars" that you save each month you may find that you're actually saving quite a bit of money each year because of water conservation efforts.

On the larger scale, water conservation is important from the environmental standpoint because it increases the amount of useable water that is available overall. Polluted water and saltwater are not only bad for humans to drink, but can damage crops and will even cause problems or grazing fields and trees as well. Clean water is needed to combat droughts that are becoming more common in major agricultural sectors, and is also vitally important to disaster relief efforts focused on areas where local water may be contaminated with potentially deadly bacteria. Without water conservation, the amount of fresh water available to assist in these situations will be drastically reduced... and that's not even counting the water shortages that may occur in other areas as the water supplies become more in demand.

One of the greatest benefits to water conservation is the fact that it's fairly easy to accomplish. You can save money and greatly help the environment simply by taking the time to reduce your water usage and eliminating water waste. Conservation doesn't require any large changes to your lifestyle; you simply have to spend a little bit of time figuring out where most of your water waste occurs and then take steps to correct the problems that you find. Even relatively small changes in the amount of water that you use can have a major impact in the long run.
